wood slice

I drew this piece of wood I got at the wondercraft booth at the renegade craft fair last weekend. I love wood, it is so pretty and interesting. I put the drawing on my etsy if you want to check it out.

some little illustrations i did on 5/18. I bought some Japanese tape from tinted mint and they are so cute I thought i'd draw them & some of my gouache paint tubes. Both 5x7 on hot pressed watercolor paper.

pretty pink pods

made a drawing today. smile. Picked this pink pod from a stock coming out of an agave looking plant. I don't know what it is called but it is pretty common in landscaping lately in Austin. I like them. Then I colored it in with gouache & watercolor. 5x7 on hot pressed watercolor paper. now available in my etsy shop

face

made some art today, sleepy face. Tried drawing the ink with a watercolor brush, wider lines.

dr. seuss-ish

I tried incorporating types of cactus into my abstract, didn't quite work I don't think, but this piece has grown on me since I drew it. do you see the stone cactus. I love those things, they are pretty cool.

everything has holes even the heart. One of my faves.

rock people cactus

the rock people grow out in cactus form with little eyes and arms. The back ground is blue. This is more of a doodle than anything I think.

I'm kind of fascinated with how drawings/painting/art in general progress on paper. Your initial drawing grows and connects to bits you drew earlier, you leave it & come back and add new shapes you wouldn't have thought to add earlier, be inspired by someone else's work and start using a color combination you never thought of. My favorite color combination is turquoise and orange red from one of my favorite paintings Philip Guston's "Ocean". 5x7 with gouache, watercolor and india ink

tribal

i drew and painted this little guy with eating at the nordstrom bistro cafe ( i know the name is redundant). I spread out my bag of gouache on the booth table that could seat four but at the time I covered most of the table. I was situated in the back camouflaged by a median 3 feet in front of my table from where all the staff stands. I got a compliment on it by another customer eating a salad so i thought i'd show you guys. I was painting during the few months January and February and the beginning of march that i wasn't posting anything because the Internet my computer was picking up stopped so i guess whoever i was getting it from moved away. But now we have our own Internet so that is nice and i can post whenever now. Watercolor followed by pen (India black ink) followed by gouache on the face and then pen again over some of the gouache to redefine the face. 5x7.

ok, so i don't really think the whole triangles and geometric shapes that is going around right now is my thing but i thought i'd try it out. it is fun. worked in watercolor, gouache and black ink pen with a little ruler on 5x7 hot press watercolor paper.
